WELCOME TO OUR ACADEMY

Here at The St Leonards Academy we have a clear vision of what creates successful learners. And we know how to implement it.

Our students are enthusiastic about learning; because we make sure we supply excellent teaching and exceptional pastoral care.

They have opportunities galore to develop life skills through our enrichment programme that offers everything from rock-climbing to formal debating.

Above all, they take pride in themselves, their school and their learning. Our PRIDE values - potential, respect, integrity, determination, excellence - run through everything we do.

Come and see our pride at work

TAKE A LOOK AT OUR YEAR 7 CURRICULUM

We are looking forward to welcoming you again next year ready to start your secondary school journey with us!

OUR STUDENTS ARE INDIVIDUALS

We have high expectations for every single student. We value each of our students’ unique set of talents and give them the personal level of support they need to succeed.

How do we do this? With heads of year, student wellbeing officers, tutors and student leaders we make sure every student knows what they’re capable of.

We challenge them with activities specifically geared to their level and interests. And we work with you, their parents and carers, to help them to reach their goals. Success is celebrated and rewarded whenever possible. There's even an app that awards ‘Pride Pounds’.

For those who show exceptional academic ability, we offer the Villiers Park Scholars Programme which helps students to successfully prepare for entry to top universities.

At every step, we consider the health and wellbeing of our students. Happy students make for a happy school.

A CURRICULUM FOR LIFE, NOT JUST FOR EXAMS

Our curriculum encourages students to challenge themselves. It provides an all-round education that creates independent thinkers and learners; people with the grit and determination they need to succeed in the wider world.

Classes are full of debate and enquiry as students develop their own thoughts and ideas.

In addition, our personal development lessons encourage our students to reflect on non-academic areas, such as their independence or how they have contributed to school life. We believe this helps them to develop into responsible citizens, well prepared for life beyond school.

We work closely with the local community and businesses to provide ‘real-life learning’ as part of our future employability and careers programme.

We also believe sport is crucial for physical and mental health, and encourage students to take part in individual and team sports in our excellent facilities.

TOP TEACHERS, TOP FACILITIES, TOP RESULTS

Our lessons benefit from our purpose-built school with classrooms that are designed with today’s learners in mind and facilities that give students exceptional learning opportunities.

Whatever specific learning needs a student might have, we believe in challenging them to reach their potential and have the necessary support staff to make this happen.

WE ARE A FAMILY OF SCHOOLS

The University of Brighton Academies Trust is a family of infant, primary and secondary schools based in Sussex.

Working Together, Delivering Excellence, Achieving Ambitions, and Nurturing Potential are the values that guide us. We support each other, sharing insights and best practice so that we never stop improving.

Our mission is to inspire our children and staff to flourish and achieve their best. It is important to us that we positively impact our communities and that pupils understand the role they can play in the wider world.

We aim to create a vibrant, inclusive community, transforming lives and broadening horizons through excellent teaching and learning.
