Town Sports Success for The St Leonards Academy

The St Leonards Academy won the annual Town Sports competition for the 5th year in a row. In the toughest event for many years where all schools came with full teams, the Academy managed to have its most successful ever medal haul, winning 64 medals (24 gold, 18 silver and 22 bronze) from 96 events.  Along with the main trophy, The St Leonards Academy also took home 5 of the 8 team awards.

The younger years led the way winning the Year 7 Girls, Year 7 Boys, Year 8 Girls, Year 8 Boys and Year 9 Boys competitions.  As well as personal successes, each member of the team won points for finishing their events and these points were the reason the Academy took home the overall title. It really was a team effort and each of the 75 students played their part in a fantastic day.

Head of PE, Mr Boniface, stated “I could not have been any prouder of each and every one of them. We have built up a culture around sport at The St Leonards Academy that encompasses values such as hard work, sportsmanship, compassion and dedication. The students have shown these in abundance and have been rewarded for their amazing efforts with individual and team success”.

Hastings & Rother School Sports Champions

The St Leonards Academy has won the overall sporting trophy for the 2017 – 2018 school year.  The Hastings & Rother schools compete in many sporting events over the school year with each event awarding points dependent on finishing positions. These points are then added up to give each school an overall total and sees winners in 3 categories, boys, girls and combined.

For the 3rd time in 4 years, The St Leonards Academy has won all 3 titles. Huge credit goes to both the students who have performed superbly and also the dedicated PE department who go above and beyond by giving up their time to provide so many sporting opportunities.
