30 of our year 9 students attended a careers trip to Canary Wharf on Wednesday 5th June.  The day was organised and funded by Hastings Opportunity Area and Careers Ready.  The day involved students commuting to and from  London on the train and attending a motivational talk by Action Jackson and then workshops in one of the following three companies ; Barclays Bank, Fitch Ratings and Citi.  The students were able to ask lots of questions about the multitude of careers in Canary Wharf where 80,000 people are employed in the one the world’s largest financial centres.  Without exception the students who attended found the day to be rewarding with many students saying it had opened their eyes to new opportunities and careers, and the personal skills needed to be successful in whatever career path they choose in the future.
